Weekend Happenings

What a rainy, dreary weekend we had here ALL weekend long! UGH! Not just spitting rain here and there...I'm talkin' full on downpours! The fam decided to stay in for most of it, though, not really wanting to take Cailyn out in all that mess!

We did manage to get out today, despite the rain, and buy an A-frame bookcase for Miss Cailyn's nursery...she has already collected so many books we needed place to start putting them! Here are a few pics:

I had the pleasure of receiving a telephone call from my 4-year-old nephew, Cole, earlier in the day, today. Bless his heart, he called to tell me that his fish passed on to the great fishbowl in the sky! He had to let me know that "those things don't last too long anyway" and he was going to get a Beta as his next fish of choice. He informed me that you could get red "abetas", blue "abetas", green "abetas"...."all different colors. Too funny he kept calling them "abetas". As a tribute to the 2nd Nemo...his first one (Nemo #1) I bought him also died...I took the liberty of taking a picture of our little fishes in their very apparently dirty tank (thanks to the great detail picked up on my camera!)

Just for Omi!

Omi cannot stand this outfit...or maybe it's the whole leopard print on a baby idea??? Anyways, Cailyn and I went to Target on Monday and she went all Punk Baby on me! Even had matching hot pink socks...ROCK ON!

I haven't scarred her for life...have I??

An early dose of Summer!

We had a beautiful weekend in Chesapeake! Temps were in the upper 70's, the sun was shining, and it was GORGEOUS! Cailyn and I took advantage of the weather and took a few strolls in the neighborhood. We even played in the grass in the front yard on a blanket!

I tried out Cailyn's new sunhat, which was about 2 sizes too big (even at 0-6 months)...but, she looked cute anyway! Plus, she thinks it's funny when I put sunscreen on her face...too precious!

That's my girl!

We also visited my friend, Emily, in the hospital on Saturday. She and her husband welcomed a beautiful little boy, Carter, into the world on Friday! He weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs, 13 ozs! Holy Cow! Cailyn met her first "little human" friend and is looking forward to many playdates with her new buddy!

2 month appointment and SHOTS!

So, Josh came home on Friday night after leaving Cailyn and me home alone to fend for ourselves all week! Actually, we did pretty well and make a pretty darn good team, my sweet pea and I! She didn't even hold it against me when I took her to the pediatrician for her 2 month appointment and very first SHOTS!

Cailyn handled 'em like a real trooper! I tried distracting her and refused to look while the nurse was prepping and shooting my daughter full of diseases. Come to find out I didn't need to look...poor little Cailyn's face turned super bright red and she let out a pitiful cry...but, she only cried for all of 15 sec. and she was all good again. Bless her little heart. The whole ordeal must have wiped her out because she was asleep before we even left the parking lot and she took an awesome nap as soon as we got home! Here are a few pics to capture the moment...

All three were taken once we got home...she wasn't too thrilled and looks out of it!

But then Daddy got home and lookey what we have here...

She survived, I survived, and she was as good as new!

She's already playing jokes on me! Stinker!

Why is it that as soon as you think you have your child on a "schedule" they like to switch things up on you? It's almost like as soon as I even think it in my head that things can't get any better...Cailyn's eating and sleeping around the same times each day...and it's a schedule I can live with she changes it up? I know she is just dying with laughter on the inside :) .

She was thrown off all day today...starting at 1:30 this a.m.!!! Then, up again at 6:15am. Normally wouldn't be too bad, except she didn't go back to sleep until 3am. Up until this point, she really has spoiled me sleeping 5 to 7-1/2 hour stretches. But no way buddy, not last night...or the night before...or the night before that...and today...no morning nap, she decides, today..."ha, ha Mom!" Finally, she decides to fall asleep around 10:30a; but, we're meeting a friend of mine for lunch today and had to leave an hour later.

Now my child, who normally can only stay awake and happy for an hour at a time on any other day, refuses to stay asleep for longer than 20 minutes at a time today; finally falling asleep at 4:30pm! What?? 4:30?? By 6:30 I break the cardinal rule...never wake a sleeping baby. She sleeps through an entire bottle and half of her bath!!! I was terrified she was going to stay asleep and then wake up at like 10/11pm wide awake and ready to play...especially since I'm exhausted! Yet I'm sitting here now typing this because I can't fall asleep! Luckily, Josh comes home tomorrow!!!!! A night off for me awaits...

On a more positive note...by Darling Daughter turned 9 weeks old today and in that small amount of time I cannot picture our lives without her! She is changing and learning something new everyday...she actually smiles like she is happy to see us, she no longer pees in the midst of getting her diaper changed (at least for me she doesn't!), she loves to play the "stick out your tongue" game, and she is starting to tolerate riding in the car without having a total meltdown! We are blessed!

Plus, one of my bestest friends, Emily, is having her baby tomorrow via scheduled c-section...we cannot wait to meet one of Cailyn first friends!

Yep, life is good! Even as I'm sleep deprived and wide awake...I wouldn't change it for the world!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is Josh's 31st birthday...the first bday since Cailyn has joined our family. Unfortunately, Josh is out of town on a business trip :( so Cailyn and I took a few photos to post for him when he reads this today. We sure do miss him and can't wait until he gets home on Friday so we can really celebrate!

Happy Birthday Daddy! We love you!

Cailyn is 2 months old!

Cailyn turned 2 months old on Sunday, March 1st. It is so hard to believe that she is growing up so fast! It seems just like yesterday we were waiting around thinking she would NEVER get here! Well, she's here for sure and we wouldn't trade her for the world! I am posting a few pics of her now...she's just too precious...my lil sweet pea!

Just one more thing...

...to keep up with. I've decided it would be a good idea to start a family blog. Since so many of our family and friends live out and about, I figured this would be a great way of keeping in touch. So much has happened in our lives over the past few months and I feel we should do everything possible to keep in touch with those we love and cherish so much...our families and friends.

Enjoy reading and feel free to add comments as you see fit. I'll certainly try my best to keep this updated with what is going on with us (if you care) and with recent photos of our newest little addition and the love of our lives, Miss Cailyn. I'm sure that she is the reason most of us will be checking in!

Stay tuned...
